In honor of the 16th anniversary of the 9/11 attack, I wanted to share a couple of questions with everybody:

Where were you when you found out about the events of September 11, 2001? Also, what stands out the most in your memory of that day? I was home that morning with my wife and then one-year-old daughter. The TV was on and tuned to the “Today Show.” I remember that at first they were reporting on a fire in the Trade Center, and rumors that a small plane had crashed into it.

Teen “Chopped” Competition

Michigan State University Extension office announces a change in the Teen “Chopped ” Competition. This event has been reschedule and will take place on November 4th. The deadline for applying is 9/25, there is a meeting on 10/10, and the event is 11/4. This year we have trained chefs that will consult with the teams, which is something new. There is a cash prize for the overall winner, and also prizes for Best Presentation and Most Creative.

Have you ever said to a child “do what I say…not what I do?” I am sure we have all been guilty of that. Sometimes it comes back to haunt you! Our Department encourages our kiddos to “step out of their comfort zone” and to try new things…well the time has come for Chief Sawyer to do just that! I have been asked and I have accepted an invitation to participate in 2017 Dance United.

UPDATE
On August 31, 2017 Mackenzie Loughin, 33 of Harrison and Danica Seney, 27 of Harrison were arraigned in the Isabella County Trial Court. Loughin was charged with: Organized Retail Crime (ICSD), Attempted Organized Retail Crime (ICSD), Retail Fraud 1st (ICSD), Flee and Elude 3rd (SPD) and Driving While License Suspended 2nd or Subsequent (SPD). She also had a Failure to Appear Warrant and a Contempt of Court Warrant. Seney was charged with: Accessory After the Fact to a
Felony (ICSD), Possession of Analogues and Retail Fraud 2nd. Both will have a preliminary hearing at a later date.

I live on shepherd Rd, very busy all the time. My neighbors have children that I would say range from age 11 to probably 13. I see them driving a four wheeler and a ATV down the wrong side of the Rd and it scares me because people drive so fast on this Rd.

Shepherd Police Department August 2017 Statistics
We just completed our August 2017 statistics. We responded to 33 complaints, but there wasn’t any specific area that stood out more than others. We performed 44 traffic stops and gave 28 verbal warnings. If you have any questions, comments or concerns my door is always open.
